About Us

With the support of the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), the Hastings Sunrise Community Policing Centre (HSCPC) was established as a non-profit volunteer organization in 1999 by a small group of citizens to address safety concerns in the Hastings North area of Vancouver.

Today, the HSCPC operates 5 community programs from a street-front office and has a catchment area that includes the Hastings Sunrise community and the north district of Grandview-Woodlands. Community partners include the VPD, City of Vancouver, Hastings North Business Improvement Association, ICBC and the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General.

A team consisting of volunteers, a neighborhood police officer and paid support staff operates the HSCPC office to address day-to-day non-crisis policing issues. The HSCPC record and respond to citizens’ crime and safety complaints and concerns. In addition, the HSCPC also receive lost property and provide community resource information and translation services.

The HSCPC office volunteers and staff work closely with city staff to follow up on civic related complaints and concerns such as graffiti, garbage, abandoned vehicles and damaged public property. The HSCPC promote VPD, City of Vancouver and ICBC programs and initiatives such as Block Watch, Victim Services, Community Visions planning process, the Keep Vancouver Spectacular event and auto crime prevention.

Community Programs

Core community programs operated by the HSCPC include: Citizens Patrols (Bike, Foot & Pooch), Community Clean-ups, Speed Watch and Business Safety. We also participate in many outreach initiatives such as: presentations, crime prevention workshops, community projects, forums, safety fairs, community events, newsletter and the Child Find program.
